Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED) is an anime series by Sunrise. It takes place in the Cosmic Era 71, where mankind is split into two subspecies: Naturals, 'normal' individuals who reside in Earth and Coordinators, genetically-enhanced humans who inhabit orbital colonies. The story revolves around Kira Yamato, a young Coordinator who finds himself amidst war between Naturals and Coordinators after a neutral space colony is invaded by the Coordinators.

The relationship between these two is by far one of the strongest and well-built throughout the series. It's not boy meets girl and thus, fall in love. Nothing out of the blue or a poor attempt at 'coupling' as SEED and Destiny seemed to love doing. Instead, Kira and Lacus's relationship extend beyond immediate attraction. As the series unraveled, the threads of fate served only to strengthen and deepen their connection, ultimately becoming each other's strength and inspiration. In terms of being romantically involved, there is a tad of ambiguity present, leaving us fans with almosts. (Though it can be inferred that they do.) But while it can be slightly disappointing, one can consider their relationship to be a facet of 'pure' love. It's not about declarations and promises of love like others but trust, understanding, strength and so much more. ♥
